Praising Your Children
...benefiting your child!
A great way to bring out the best in your child and build good self-esteem in him/her is to give sincere praises often. A good goal is to try to give 10 praises for every positive task (setting). Your toddler wants to please you, and he wants your attention any way he can get it. If he can get attention with only unacceptable behavior, he will! If he gets your attention only when you are scolding him, but you pay little or no attention to him when he's exhibiting proper behavior, why should he be good? If you give him attention by praising him more than you correct him, he will try to please you to receive the positive attention!
